Extorting a witness to testify. Paying witnesses to testify. In all likelihood orchestrating leaks to the media. Firing an arbiter whose only sin was ruling against MLB (I know they have the power to but what did that firing say to all other potential arbiters?)

BTW Bud makes in excess of 22 million a year for what appears to be very little actual work. (the slow pace of MASN arbitration as one example)

An arbiter who deserved to be fired. Braun should be thrown out of the game. The MASN is slow paced has nothing to do with Bud. There is a contract. Angelos isn't going to be ripped off.

I don't know your logic in your arguments in this thread. Bud is doing good with this investigation. Even the union is coming out against the players in this scandal.

If it weren't for the money, I'd take him in a heartbeat. If the Brewers are willing to talk about shouldering a lot of that money, I'd start talking right now.

I doubt the Brewers are going to let him go, however.

Just a thought after the suspension. May be able to make an investment for next season.

This is not as bad an idea as say....doing crystal meth, but at first glance it would be hard not to think, yea maybe not. But, some ideas simply need to be aired out so that they can ferment into better more productive ideas.....further percolate as some might say.

I'm not looking for a Braun on roids. I'm looking for a low cost, low risk, high upside investment tied to what would certainly be a performance based contract tied to routine testing. Unlike Bonds, Braun has owned up to the issue at hand, accepted responsibility, apologized and accepted his punishment. By the way, he's suspended without pay. Not sure he'll put his career at risk again after this. Lastly, the guy has awesome talent and would upgrade LF for us.

Initially, I was concerned about an investment tied to more than one thing, but this is starting to make some sense. So, if we back up and just look at this, we are looking for a buy low type of investment in order to upgrade our LF situation for next year. Braun would certainly offer that, but I don't know if I would consider him low risk. To me the baggage is pretty high risk. He has been incredibly artful as a liar.

No, for me, if I am going to try to capture unlimited upside, hall of fame type performance in LF, I'm just gonna pass on Braun. I'd rather buy Ted Williams' frozen head.

Surprising he went down without a fight.

I guess he figured MLB would do a better job of stacking the deck this time.

Might as well sit out the rest of this lost season then miss time next year.

You don't fight when the evidence presented against you clearly shows that you can't possibly win. It seems likely that by taking a punishment greater than 50 games for a first time offender that Braun's dabbling in ped's was not a one-time affair. Rodriguez should wish he'll only get suspended for the rest of the season. I think they will absolutely lower the boom on him. Not just for use but for obstruction and possibly more.

And regardless of whether MLB "bought" or "coerced" evidence, it's apparent the evidence was undoctored, convincing, truthful and indisputable. Anything less and Braun and others don't cop a plea and the union doesn't leave them hanging.

So it's the lying not the PED use that bothers you.

Got it.

Did you think Strop was actually injured this year or do you boo Buck and the FO for lying about it?

I think that all players get banged up. I think you could DL 60 percent at any time. He has pitched better now that he is healthy.

    • Westburg exceeded rookie eligibility limits last year exceeding 130 at bats and more than 45 days on the active roster. On the plus side he might qualify as a super sophomore or at the very least avoid the sophomore slump.
    • Westburg shouldn’t be, where are you seeing that?
    • So since Westburg is apparently still ROY eligible, Cowser and Westburg may project to be the best rookie combination since Fred Lynn and Jim Rice in 1975?
    • There were several and I was one them. I'm  on record as saying I was one of his biggest Apologists . You should feel good about yourself as you were able to see that Means would be imploding before our very eyes( which was an opinion or a guess, which is what I did) as far as feeling bad for me? Dont I'm plenty good enough to know I wont be able to guess right every time
    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
