We just don't have that mind set for situational hitting and we never had. We rely a lot on the home runs and it hurt us tonight.

Markakis was marvelous getting on base and AJ was AMAZING stretching that into a triple...all for nothing.

Very disappointed in that Davis AB. It's making me have a knot in my stomach about the rest of his season.

He can't always deliver, but while he's not delivering he can at least can the Roger Maris / Barry Bonds comments..he's gotten too much exposure over the last month and he is in danger of becoming 2012 Chris Davis again. IMO

Davis has lost his easy swing. He's swinging out of his shoes for some reason. He's abandoned the approach that has made him so successful. He's really taking huge rips instead of the easy swing on the ball.

I know he homered like 4 straight games or something before the ASG but I haven't liked his approach at ALL for the past month. I miss April/May Chris Davis.

Just throw him heat inside or high and inside and you will get him out.

I look back at that HR he hit against McGee on Opening Day and think, man...where is that guy?

I really hate seeing Davis in clutch at bats. He can't be relied on to put the ball in play. There's just at bats where you know that he has no shot. That at bat ruined the whole game. After that you just knew they weren't going to score.

This teams hitting with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs is absolutely pathetic. People can bring up the stats all they want to, but I don't see anyway you can debate it. They're terrible in clutch situations like tonight but can hit all day when the games out of hand.

Exactly, you gotta wonder about the home run derby, torn callus or whatever, but he is out of sync.

So here is my guess. Given how many of the posters here

hate the bunt, JJ hitting away was a better decision than a

squeeze once CD struck out in his last AB. I know JJ has

power and can loft the ball but he also hits many ground balls,given his pull happy swing. Oh well.

Gotta give Holland credit, he bore down in the clutch and

made the pitches he needed to. Just wish we had hit Chen.

Still mystifying how he gets outs. I thought he was done

when he left the O's.

He just hit an opposite field double last night. That guy has gone nowhere.

      There are 8 weeks before the trade deadline.  Long time before teams need to decide whether they’re sellers.   Honestly, that’s why I don’t pay much attention to threads like these in early June.  The season is only 59 games in, and it’ll be 106 games in at the deadline.  A million things can change between now and then.  If I were king of the realm, trade deadline threads wouldn’t even exist until the all star break at the earliest.

      He is in his 5th season with St Louis, so I’m not sure he qualifies as a 10/5 guy yet or not.  I thought you had to complete 5 seasons? I know it’s 10 years and 5 consecutive years with your current org. Does a partial season count as the 5th year or do you need to complete it?  Not seeing anything concrete either way. Not that it matters since PG has a full NTC anyway.

      So far for this year it’s looking like we should get a rental SP like Stroman or Giolito. That would allow us to pitch GR, and Hall, out of the bullpen in September. There’s a lot of season left, and still a good bit of time before the deadline.

      He doesn't have to play anywhere to be paid his contract, like Chris Davis. You have to think he still enjoys the game and can contribute (and show the Yankees they were wrong, but thanks for the $$$$$).

      No problem if you don't care.  Different strokes for different folks. As I said earlier, I think as a whole we've been pretty restrained in the criticism this year, so we need a release every now and again.  We saw this thread and the Giants thread pop-up recently I think because she's been doing TV and people have been exposed to her more.  I have to listen to a lot of games on the radio because of my kids' schedules, and while I've no doubt been spoiled by Jon Miller and Joe Angel, there's no reason the Orioles should have Newman or Garceau doing PBP.  They can both be great as studio hosts.

      Respectfully wildcard, the fact that Gunnar is an asset against RHP and a major liability against LHP isn't exactly a new observation.  It's been discussed frequently here (within this very thread in fact). Ultimately none of our IF players should be inked into the lineup everyday.  Mountcastle has been atrocious against RHP.  Frazier has some good ABs but the ceiling is limited. Mateo's offensive struggles are well-documented.  Gunnar can't hit LHP.  And I like Urias as a whole but he wasn't hitting much before the injury and is hitting even less now.  There are plenty of ABs to be had for a young infielder (or 2) that can hit.
