Those situations be treated like a 20 count. Shrink the strike zone, and don't swing at the pitch if it isn't in one of your high average areas. The pitches these guys swing at in those situations are too often not pitches they have any chance of driving. There's also a lot of pulling outer edge pitches as Hardy did last night.

We are 20-21 against teams under .500. We never show up against bad teams. That's a pretty embarassing record for a contender to have against teams under .500. It's the difference between being in 3rd place in the division and 1st place in the league.

I'm fine with Nick swinging at the 1st pitch because the infield was back. All he had to do was not hit a pop fly and the run scores.

That's true. But its almost been 2 months now. He needs to turn it around soon. He's so good, and so valuable to this offense when he's himself.
