A-Roid offered a deal to avoid a lifetime ban

Everyone is missing the point with A-Rod, he shouldn't be allowed to cut a deal, there is overwhelming evidence that he was in fact one of the ringleaders.

from MLB.com

Major League Baseball earlier this week informed the MLB Players Association that A-Rod's penalty would be "considerable" and could even end his playing career if he decides to fight what is said to be extensive evidence that he not only acquired performance-enhancing substances from Biogenesis but that he recruited other players to patronize the clinic and impeded MLB's investigation.

I really hope the Angels don't try and pull this same type of crap when Pujols is old as hell and completely finished.

As for ARod I do not think a PERMABAND attempt would succeed. So taking about a 200 game suspension doesn't make sense. A 100 game suspension would give the MLB more leverage, and a more lenient penalty would be more likely to draw out an admission of guilt.

I think the thinking is that if an arbitrator ruled against a permaband, it would most likely be reduced to 150-200 games. Thus why they are trying to make the deal for that length.

He is "required to cooperate". You know what I meant and what is going on. They're squeezing his nuts.

Oh sorry. No I didn't realize what you were referring to. I just saw Perjury and jumped to the legal definition.

Can't go much past lifetime ban, Lifetime ban + 10 games would come off juvenile.

No biggie. I definitely wasn't being legal/literal there. It is a strange case.

Rodriguez should fight the deal. A year and a half suspension is already a lifetime ban, because there is no way he is coming back from that when he is 40.

He is owed $61,000,000 from 2015-2017 plus bonuses in the millions if he can hit 13 more home runs.

That is a lot to lose if he ends up with a lifetime ban.

That being said I hope he fights it.

3 new names have been added to the list of players who are likely to be suspended, hope Danny Valencia isn't one of them.

I read today that they are talking about suspending Arod and then not letting him play if he appeals. Is that legal under the CBA? Has anyone heard of that happening before?

I don't like it when they change rules on the fly.

The process you are refererencing is only in place when there is a failed drug test. No change on the fly.
