Bruce Chen

After pitching out of the bullpen for most of the season, former Oriole Bruce Chen was inserted into the Royals' starting rotation 3 weeks ago.

He just completed his 4th start today, and as was the case in his previous 3 starts, he pitched very well (he wasn't too shabby in his 19 games out of the bullpen before that, either.)

In his 4 starts so far this season, Chen has pitched 24 innings, has an E.R.A. of 1.50, and a W.H.I.P. of 0.5833.

Few things would amuse me more than to see Bruce Chen continue this incredible run he is on and steal the ERA title from another ace like King Felix, Scherzer, or Darvish. Sadly he needs another 90 innings or so by the end of the season to qualify for it and I don't see that happening. :(

Wouldn't it be something if he didn't have enough innings to qualify for the E.R.A. title, yet still managed to get a few Cy Young votes ??? :)

One final excellent outing for Chen to close out a very good 2013 season.

His final W.H.I.P. (1.190) was his best since he was an Oriole back in 2004, when it was 1.154.
