The Red Sox are so vulnerable to left handers

That the O's couldn't find a LH'er starter really hurt. Needed to sign Saunders... or Britton needed to hold down a rotation spot.

Joe Saunders would have an ERA well north of 5 if the O's had kept him, and people would be screaming their lungs out having spent $6 million for such production.

Most definitely. On the season he has an era of 4.58 with a whip of 1.504 and that's with far better home splits. Away from safeco he has a 5.33 era with a whip of 1.684.

Saunders was decidedly mediocre with the O's last year. Folks tend to forget that, due to his performances in Texas and NY last October.

The stats don't suggest he was "mediocre." Better word is overachiever. He outperformed his career numbers in ERA, homers and walks per nine innings rates. That wasn't likely to last over the course of a full season, and as we've seen this year, it hasn't.

I will say, pining for Saunders is far more rational than pining for andino.

Listening to siriusxm MLB Channel, John Farrell seems like Whiner. He is complaining about the Yankees series on a Sunday night in a few weeks then an immediate west coast trip. I'd like nothing more than the Sawx to start "Choking."

What the world is going on in Boston tonight. The box score can not be right. 4 passed balls in the fist inning and a walk and hit batsman.

I was going to make a joke about Tim Wakefield, but then saw that Steven Wright was pitching. He became a knuckleballer in 2011.

Make it 5.

They rules the final passed ball a wild pitch, but it was a passed ball ( I was watching.)

In any case, runners moved up and/or scored on 5 different occasions in only 1/3 of an inning.

I have it down in the Red Sox' thread in the MLB section. :)

His pitches are working, but the catcher can't catch them!

5-0 on Grossman's 2nd career homer (1st was against us). Houston's become an interesting team, I must say....
