Does It Get Anymore Unclutch Than That?

1-8 with RISP

Bullpen blows two separate leads, and gives up a total of 5 runs the last 3 innings.

Seriously... Last year we would've taken the lead in the 9th, taking advantage of that terrible bobble by Goldschmit and walk by Ziegler. Instead we get 1 run and Machado pops out.

Then the BP decides to stink it up in one of the few games on this road trip that we've actually needed them to pitch well.

You just know the Orioles will find a way to lose close games this year. Whether its not being able to get clutch hit(s) or the bullpen blowing a lead its ALWAYS SOMETHING. They just always find new ways to lose.

Happy now? Good to get it off your chest?

It's a lot harder for me to get crazy upset about these types of losses because of how rare they happen nowadays. I still have vivid memories of games like this once a week back in the dark period. The Orioles are 12 games over .500 and 2 games from the playoffs in mid August. Despite the gut punch of the loss, I'm still an ecstatic Oriole fan.

Yep it's a different team this time around. Much more traditional team. Lots of power, lots of Ks, snakebitten in the clutch, average to below average bullpen, average to above average SPs, league-leading defense.

Compare that to last year's decent power, lots of Ks, O-mazing in the clutch, league-leading bullpen, average SPs, above average defense.

I dunno about you, but I'd take last year's team over this year's any day. What ever they did last year to be able to pitch out of jams and hit in clutch situations and hold off the opposing offense in extras, ALL of that mojo is completely depleted, gone. Now we're just a playoff pretender that won't make it, but will get JUST close enough to keep fans' hopes up. it's worse when they're a tease and make you think they COULD be playoff bound, then put up a game like tonight's. Ridiculous. I'd rather them just lose every game so I can stop wasting my time watching them and get on with life.

This was a game we had..then lost...then tied...then lost..then tied..then lost for the last time.We might look back at this game as the game we

desperately wanted to give away..and THIS game could be the one that gave away our chances for a wild card spot. Sure we still have plenty of

baseball left, but if we lose this series or are swept, I really dont like our chances...

Roy I think not making the playoffs would be more of the playing .500 ball over the last 2 months. Not these 3 games.

Last year's team was designed to make me think all season they couldn't possibly keep winning, and then they went out and proved me wrong. This year they keep giving me enough hope to make me think we can go back to the playoffs and then crush me like they did tonight.

It's ruthless, really. It's hard to imagine how they could possibly crush our hopes so continually this season and then win enough to have us coming back for more.

We did take advantage of the Goldschmidt bobble. We scored a run with a man on 3rd and 1 out. Davis hits a clutch homerun to tie the game up another time. Roberts had a clutch double to RF. This game is on the bullpen. We had a 4-2 lead after 6. We are 14-19 in one run games? Again, the bullpen just hasn't been as good this year and the team hasn't been as lucky in the close games. The offense scored 6 runs. Let's not blame the offense again. Matusz was okay but he did hit the leadoff batter in the 7th. Hunter, Patton, and O'Day were not good. This team is good, just not playoff good.

Offense was great tonight, no doubt. Miley was a very tough assignment. But the pen...the pen. Our relievers had -1.044 WPA tonight. I don't even know how that's possible. The 2012 team set a record with ~13 WPA all season.

Meh, that was the team in August and September last year, but before then (particularly during a rough July) last year's team had far more flaws than this year's. Heck, until Machado came up and solidified the infield defense, third base was absolutely horrific.

The biggest difference between this year and last is that the rest of the league has rebounded. Boston's back with a force, and Oakland, Tampa and Texas all seemed to have fixed what was ailing them.

Getting screwed by Dumbo the big eared elf ump didn't help.

Nope. That was a horse-bleep call. Weaver would've played that game under protest.

Not only did it cost us a run, but it probably cost Feldman from completing the 6th inning.

Last time i looked this team had a 4-2 lead in the 7th. This one is all on the Pen today.

This is the kind of game that can break a teams back........

or......

Really piss them off and get the adrenaline flowing.......

What will it do to the Orioles?
