Yeah, as much as I dislike A-Rod, what Dempster did was ridiculous and really shouldn't have been tolerated. It's unfortunate that now some people will look at A-Rod with sympathy and respect for the way he handled the situation - later hitting a huge homerun.

The way you beat these guys in on the scoreboard, not with beanballs.

LOL gotta love this Girardi gets thrown

I can't believe they did not throw Dempster

Dempster is a player's rep for the union. He knows the rules and procedures pertaining to suspensions and a player's right to appeal. Popping Rodriguez last night was flat out wrong and was intentional. NY can't afford to lose a player now through an ejection/suspension for getting involved in a beanball war. The teams will meet again.

In the meantime, Rodriguez retaliated in the best way possible. He clubbed a pretty powerful HR to dead CF and did a great Ortiz imitation when he touched home plate. Sometimes a BS move like Dempster pulled can ignite a team like the Yankees.

This. I was listening to MLB Radio this AM, and they were saying the same. It made people have sympathy for ARoid in that situation, and well, that's just not right.

I hate to say this, because I don't consider ARoid class, but he did handle it the right way. Even his post game comments. They asked if Dempster should be suspended for what he did, and ARoid said "I'm the last guy you should ask about suspensions". He did/said all the right things.

To be perfectly honest he sounded a bit humbled in his post conference. Maybe he is learning to shut the heck up and just play ball

I don't have a problem with them hitting AROD. I don't have a problem with every opposing team hitting AROD from here on out. It's not just about the PEDs it's about all of the other stuff involved with it. That being said, the Red Sox and their fans are ridiculously hypocritical. Hello, you wouldn't have finally gotten another WS victory (and then another) if it wasn't for Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz and probably others as well. Their self awareness is comical. Red Sox and Red Sox fans, you're the same as the Yankees. Don't hate them for things that you emulate.

But the Mitchell report didn't have the names of any Red Sox players.

What a classless team. Didn't their bullpen hit another 3 Yankees?

I hate A-Rod as much as the next guy, but all they've done is spun the entire thing into a victimization.

Sure, what a loser. Arod has made more money than that kid will see in 10 lifetimes.

    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
    • Well it certainly doesn't look like he'll be winning Rookie of Year award. And if we send him down for like the tiniest amount of time, we get him for another year, right? I think if this poor hitting continues it's financial mismanagement not to send him back down. Grayson got sent down and came back way better.
    • He certainly isn't a bust but I wasn't happy with the pick at the time and I don't love using the second overall pick for that type of player profile. Westburg signed for slot so he's irrelevant but Mayo was a great use of the money saved.
