According to Richard Durrett, the Rangers have reasons why they won't fade ...... but the Athletics just pulled into a first-place tie with them in the A.L. West.

Don't Count on Rangers Collapsing

September will finish differently this season compared to last year for Texas.

Don't look know, but Oakland has now caught Texas in the AL West.

Looking at the Rangers remaining schedule:

2 games @ Oakland

3 games @ Angels

3 games vs. Pittsburgh

3 games vs. Oakland

4 games @ Tampa Bay

3 games @ Kansas City

3 games vs. Houston

4 games vs. Angels

Other than the 3 game set against the Astros, that is not exactly the easiest of schedules. Is it possible that they fall out of this thing as we roll deeper into September?

7 innings of 1-run ball from Yu Darvish wasn't enough for the Rangers today, as Bartolo Colon pitched 8 shutout innings, and Grant Balfour shut the door on the Texans.

The Rangers have lost 10 out of their last 12 games, and their once seemingly secure playoff spot is now in jeopardy.

When I started this thread 2 and-a-half weeks ago, I really didn't expect the Orioles to be one game behind the Rangers with 11 games left to play, as they are.

I just thought that it was an interesting E.S.P.N. article, and posted it because the hometown writer (Richard Durrett) said that he was confident that the Rangers WOULD NOT fall apart down the stretch, as they did last year.

There is still a long way to go, but after tonight's devastating loss to the Rays in extra innings, they (the Rangers) have lost 13 out of their last 16 games, and are facing the very real possibility of not getting one of the 2 wildcard positions.
