Have you been to a Walmart lately? I wouldn't say their employee dress code wreaks of professionalism. I was there yesterday and most had jeans on with their boxers showing. I guess the little Walmart vest does add a little professionalism to the look.

Ever work for them? Do you know the rules they have for personal appearance?

What does that matter? You brought up Walmart and I commented on what they wear at work. The only thing I know for sure is that you come off as a complete ass everytime I read one of your posts. Are you that miserable in life or do you just play hardass on here?

How do you know the O's had a disappointing season and didn't make the playoffs? Fans are mad at players who have unkempt beards, other fans are mad at the other fans for getting mad and pictures of presidents from the 19th century are being posted to prove a point.

Hey! I, for one, would post pictures of a president to prove a point even if the Orioles won the World Series!

I'm glad the Orioles have a rule on facial hair. I really don't like the look. Most of the Red Sox look like they are heading to a Civil war reenactment.

Why do you care if they have beards? I think this is the second time this has come up and I find it really weird that it does. Do you prefer the Yankees with their short hair and clean shaven faces?

It is not like their hats are on crooked are they have big gold chains.

I also think its funny that out of all the unprofessional things players do (spitting, slapping each others butts, temper tantrums) facial hair is what is pointed out. Chris Davis could look like Willie Nelson in 2014 for all I care, just as long as he hits bombs and drives in runs.

A person's appearance says a lot about them as an individual. It sends a message to others. Whether it is right or wrong, fair or unfair, a person just has to be aware of the fact that others base perception on appearance. And with certain positions in society certain appearances are not considered acceptable as the norm.

Its why people say "dress for success."

You dress like a bum, people look at you like a bum.

You dress like a thug, people look at you like a thug.

You wear a suit as a professional, that doesnt fit well, is wrinkled, and you didnt comb your hair, people get an impression.

You get all tatted up, people still look at you like trailer trash. Maybe not as many do, but its still the perception.

You have a scraggly beard instead of a neatly trimmed beard or no beard, it sends a message.

Presentation is a fact of life. How one presents oneself is up to that individual, And to say that the other people who get the perception based on how one presents himself is the problem is narrow minded, immature, and ignoring reality. Its just the facts of life.

I think it helps me in business that I have long hair and often unshaven for weeks. I think it makes me look like a genius and I get paid more because of it and people listen to my opinions.

I think it is usually lower payed jobs that have rules about facial hair and stuff. Like if you work at McDonalds or Giant they might care but in the business world I have never heard of any such rules.

How long do you think Wal Mart would let Chris Davis walk around with that big wad under his lip?

There is a difference between it being short and well groomed "looking professional", and looking like most of the Red Sox.

So if your doctor or the President of the US looked like this, you'd have no problem?

I think the most important thing for a doctor is how they peform and where they went to medical school. If I see someone went to a top medical school it tells me they put forth a lot of effort at least in college. If they are a specialist your doctor will usually refer you. I would rather a scraggly bearded doctor who went to Hopkins for medical school over a doctor who got his degree in Grenada and is neatly groomed.

And I think the guy from the A's in the picture looks good. Much better than when Wieters has his goatee.
