Facial hair

I think the most important thing for a doctor is how they peform and where they went to medical school. If I see someone went to a top medical school it tells me they put forth a lot of effort at least in college. If they are a specialist your doctor will usually refer you. I would rather a scraggly bearded doctor who went to Hopkins for medical school over a doctor who got his degree in Grenada and is neatly groomed.

And I think the guy from the A's in the picture looks good. Much better than when Wieters has his goatee.

A first impression is called that for a reason. If you have a male Dr come into the exam room with his hair touching his rear and a scraggly beard anyone would do a double take. Now if you want to ask his MCAT score and his references from his residency that's your up to you. If you don't like to be judged because you have a tattoo on your face I have two suggestions. Option one don't care if you are judged and option two would be don't get a tattoo on your face.

I also think its funny that out of all the unprofessional things players do (spitting, slapping each others butts, temper tantrums) facial hair is what is pointed out. Chris Davis could look like Willie Nelson in 2014 for all I care, just as long as he hits bombs and drives in runs.

I wish Chris Davis looked like a lumberjack. The memes that could be created. But then Hardy? wouldn't be able to rub his chin.

I research his/her background before making an appointment. Facial hair does not bother me. I wonder why someone thinks something as natural as a man having facial hair would give a bad impression? It kind of boggles my mind. If a female doctor had a full beard I might be doing a double take. I have to admit that.

Seems you are brainwashed by some sort of idea of what someone is supposed to look like that is not real. Men are supposed to have facial hair. If you don't like that take it up with god or evolution or whatever you believe in.

Apperntly you can't differentiate between a scraggly beard and facial hair. Your response seems quite emotionally charged.

And the sign said " Long haired freaky people need not apply"

So I tucked my hair up under my hat and went in to ask him why

He said " You look like a fine upstanding man, I think you'll do."

So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that. Huh! Me working for you!"

Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign ???

I don't like goatees I think they look stupid and out of style. I think a "scraglgly beard" looks natural and looks better and they are in style now. It is an opinion. I just don't get the reason to have a facial hair policy or a hair length policy. Let people wear their hair and grow their beards however they want.

And not before photographs were circulated in newspapers and magazines.

Oh how life has improved through the homogenization of everything. What ever did people do before the television was there to show them how to look and think and act? The horror of interacting with those who didn't have access to your standards to fall in line with!

If you take a look around you see all sorts of styles, suits, goatees, full beards, the billygoat beard, the movie star 3 day growth, clean shaven, shaved heads, tattoo's, piercings, the nerd look, goth, dreads. Good lord how can anyone in their right mind insist that any one of those looks should be the only one for all. But maybe that's because I live in New York and see all of that every day just on my block

So if someone comes in to interview with my company and they have a tattoo of a penis on their cheek I should not weigh that in my employment decision?

    • He was 63 years old. His 1985 season was one of the better seasons ever by an Orioles outfielder.
    • Trading Mayo for a rental would be foolish.
    • No idea who they are but I wasn't going to post the Eagles.
    • Obviously, Stroman is coming off of a gem of a performance today. But overall he has had a nice season to date. I was against the idea of adding him to "the list" at first. But on second look, I could see a scenario where we acquire him AND an EdRod type if we are insistent on not parting with any top tier prospects. Both Stroman and Eduardo Rodriguez can probably be had for a borderline top 100 prospect+ each. Meaning a Mayo/Norby kind of guy, plus.
    • Apparently it’s still too early for John Angelos.
    • Well, suddenly they’re thin in the outfield.   Personally I would shift Hays to center with McKenna occasionally subbing. I know what the data says but my eyes tell me that Hays is still the better outfielder. He may not run everything down in the gaps that Ced does or even what Ryan may get to out there on occasion but my personal opinion is that he is the better outfielder between the two. I could certainly see why they would keep him in left and just use Ryan in center but that would not be my preference if it’s a long term thing for Cedric. Despite all the clamoring for him to be a full-time DH, it looks like Tony stays in RF for now. Dang, this would be an excellent opportunity to see Cowser. Bummer. In any event, here’s to a speedy recovery for Cedric.    It’s such an orioles thing for them to look at Aaron Hicks though. I sure hope that doesn’t happen.
    • Of the bolded players mentioned, what value does ANY of them carry? A Domincan lottery ticket at most a single A gamble? It seems that those players are more valuable to the Orioles than other teams. No? If we get rid of Gibson, who is going to give us consistent length in this rotation? Are you concerned about the strain and stress on the bullpen that the 4 "5 and dive" guys in the rotation have placed upon the bullpen all season? What trade value does Stowers carry? Norby and Prieto? If you packaged all 3 assuming that you could find a team to want them, what would that do/get you?  Sounds like you "love our guys" in the rotation. And while I again commend you for your optimism as a fan. It's hard to filter through a lens that includes colors beyond orange and black. Beyond pure hope, dreams and wishes. I don't know how to look at our current rotation and compare the talent on the other teams starting staffs and come to the conclusion, I would rather have the O's. Surely if given a choice, you would not take a combination of Wells, Kremer, Bradish, Gibson, GRod, Voth, Irvin, Watkins, Rom, and Cole over Cole, Rodon, and Cortes OR Gray, Ryan, and Lopez OR deGrom, Evoldi, and Gray/Perez OR Valdez, Javier, and Brown? I don't think it takes anything away from one's fandom to admit other teams have more talent/better pitchers and that we need to improve upon our's in order to give ourselves a better chance to beat them.
