Yes, very interested. He would be a great candidate, but as wildcard pointed out, he may not want to leave Atlanta.

He's from Alabama, went to school at Auburn (War Eagle), and seems happy pitching for the Braves. I imagine he gives them all the chances to sign there, but if they're not interested, we should be.

If they are not interested then I am worried.

What makes you think he is not going back to the Braves?

I'm not saying he won't. I just think he'd be an ideal target for DD. A veteran groundball pitcher who's still very good that would only require a short term commitment. A lot depends on the direction the Braves want to go in. A younger guy like Nolasco or Garza might be more appealing.

Hudson might like the idea of having the Orioles defense behind him. If Mcann walks, he might not like the Braves chances. I just don't think a GM is doing his job if he doesn't explore interest. Reports were that it was either the Dodgers or back to Japan for Kuroda.

Exploring is good.

Hudson is an amazing pitcher. I've always been a huge fan, would love to have him. He fits the profile of a guy who can be effective for a very long time no matter his age. An excellent ground ball pitcher, deep arsenal, very good command, not at all reliant on velocity. I would definitely be willing to give him two years.

No fartknockers.

Of all the fartnockers we've had (Millwood, Saunders, Garcia etc), this is the one guy you want.

He's a huge "clubhouse guy" which would be fantastic for all these young pitchers. Even if he didn't put up outstanding numbers off the mound, he'd more than make up for it in development of the other young guns.

He's also the type of guy I see Buck targeting.
