I keep expecting the Cards' young pitchers to hit a wall pitching this late into the season.

It certainly hasn't happened so far.

The youngster who pitched the most, Shelby Miller, has not pitched in the Post season. Both Kelly and Wacha have had a relatively low workload and should still be strong. The pitchers I worry about "hitting a wall" are Wainwright and Lynn. Wainwright led the league in innings pitched and Lynn has a history -- albeit short -- of second half fades.

Rosenthal has also been in a lot of games this season. However, the Cards have a lot of good youngsters in their pen. Seth Maness led NL relievers in double plays. Mujica is rested up now and may be ready to pitch in critical spots again. Axford has pitched very well since coming over from the Brewers.

As long as things continue to go well, Miller and Mujica may continue collecting splinters on the bullpen bench, but they've pitched a lot of big games during the regular season and could surface if needed in the World Series.
