Okay, even I am getting fed up with this now.

This organization is becoming an embarrassment. For years all we heard was "when we're close, we will make the moves to take us over the top." Well Peter, put your money where you're mouth is. Stop signing garbage and sign real MAJOR LEAGUE talent! And this is coming from one of your biggest supporters! This is completely ridiculous.

Now, this is nothing against Phelps and the others. But come on, these guys are all filler. Where is the REAL talent?

You don't think every team in baseball has made moves like this since the season ended? Just because you don't hear about them, or think that they do, doesn't mean that they don't happen. Somehow, they never get reported. But, the Orioles do it and it's the end of the world, business as usual, etc. Spare me. I've no expectations they're going to do anything earth shattering. But seriously, every single move really doesn't have to devolve right back into the same thing over and over again. When they offseason has played out and there's real evidence to go off, then I'll say I whether I'm disappointed or happy at what they did. Until that happens, people need to chill and stop getting their panties tied up over moves that mean absolutely nothing, and that EVERY SINGLE TEAM DOES.

So then you're suggesting no one comment on anything until the offseason is over? That would make for a fun place to "hangout."

I think if a fan came into this off-season expecting that the Orioles would add proven major league talent to help fill at least some areas of need (LF, lefty DH, starter(s), 2B) I am not sure how anything that has happened or not happened so far would change that opinion. They have added three bullpen arms all with different kinds of upside. They added one option at 2B in a guy who has hit very well in AAA but hasn't stuck in a small sample in the majors. It is not like they signed Phil Hughes to a 1 year/$8 m deal and called it a day on starting pitching or declared that Cord Phelps puts an end to any possible 2B upgrade. Very few moves have been made this off-season so far and some of the teams that have made big moves either have more holes (Yankees for example) or one clear cut need (Cardinals) which makes it more likely to strike early. If I was of the mind that the Orioles might fill a hole or two with proven major league talent this winter (and I tend to lean that way but it depends how you define "proven talent) I have trouble seeing how anything they have or haven't done so far changes that.

If someone came into the off-season expecting the Orioles not to add any proven major league players, than I am not sure why that person would be outraged now at the fact that they haven't done so yet. If you already didn't expect anything, then there is no reason to be disappointed that they haven't yet.

    • There is no question in my mind that the coaching staff and analytics staff is doing everything in their power to make sure that Holliday is as well prepared as possible before every game.  And he's been in few enough games at this point to where I wonder if there's enough data yet to start drawing up an effective strategy anyway.  Now that the decision has been made to bring him up, Holliday is owed a long enough window to show he can't make the adjustment even with the benefit of the best support.  If that means he has to be sent down, I'm not going to stress about it.  I'm also not going to hold my breath that he'll turn the corner even so.  Adley made it, Gunnar made it, so did Westburg and Cowser and Mountcastle and Grayson...  If Holliday doesn't make it I'll be surprised and disappointed, but the Orioles under Elias are still way ahead of the game and Norby is looking for an opportunity and time marches on.
    • We have 5 guys on pace for 117 RBI.
    • If a good defensive SS hits 54 HR and is only worth 8.1 WAR I’m gonna have some serious questions on their methodology.
    • It’s not the same …. Henderson was batting just under .200. Holliday is batting .040. So about 20 % as good as Henderson was at his worst. And he’s striking out in more than 1 out of 2 trips to the plate.   There is no sense panicking either way. But, there is nothing wrong with sending him down. I think too many of you guys are acting like not sticking with him is some kind of sin. As a fan, I’m worried about damaging his confidence too much.    Plus after all the bullshit from his father, hopefully now he will keep his mouth shut.
    • Pedantic is an adjective. Your definition has it as a noun.
    • There's a difference between being patient at the plate as opposed to comatose.
