and people said that LJ Hoes and Avery were worthless

we begin to see how much DD's poor futile playoff chasing trades hurt the organization

Hoes/Avery aren't worthless, but they are easily replaced. Having Peguero (or Dickerson or any of 20 other similar players) instead of Avery/Hoes most certainly does NOT hurt the organization.

Once the bloom of prospect status is off a young player, those types are relatively interchangeable. And neither Hoes nor Avery were considered prospects any longer.

Scouting report :

A speedy outfielder who's been in the Giants' system since he was a 17 year old, Dominican Francisco Peguero is a solid defender with developing on-base skills. A line drive hitter whose build doesn't suggest future power (he's shaped more or less like Eugenio Velez, though he hits exclusively from the right side), Peguero will have to keep reaching base at a high clip in order to contribute. He's got some distance to close, too: despite the nice batting average, his walk rate is too low, and his speed, while above average, isn't of the base-burning variety. He tasted MLB last season, and could be back as an injury fill-in once again in 2013.

Urrutia has options. He doesn't make it unless he's a starter. Peguero has the best attributes as an outfield reserve because of speed and defense. However, if Jemile Weeks makes the team, he can also play outfield (don't know about his defense there) and has speed and would make Peguero less likely to make the team. With Valencia probably on the team to take RH DH AB's, it's a battle between Reimold and Pearce for one spot. A real long shot that both Pearce and Reimold make it.

Weeks is unlikely to make the team as a reserve OF. He either makes it as a the starting 2B or UIF. If not he has an option left.

Sounds like we agree. Peguero, Reimold, Pearce and Urrutia compete for two spots.

I didn't mean that Weeks would make it as a reserve OF. I mean that if he's the backup 2B, that he can also play the OF, which would make Peguero less likely to make the team and more likely that someone like Reimold or Pearce could be the 4th OF.

Sounds right. But Weeks as played a total of 25 games in his whole minor league career in the OF. He has played 5 innings in the OF in the majors. All these OF games have been confined to CF.
