TonySoprano
There is no question this is the case. Nothing to see here.Another quote to add to my file;)To this day, Angelos claims that media portrayals of his supposed micromanaging were “grossly inaccurate” and he defends the club’s refusal to jack the budget up dramatically to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox..Sure they were, and I have some Kansas oceanfront that just went on the market. So I guess the old line about how MASN was going to help was inaccurate, or in the parlance if the media, he "misspoke." Weams , I have the original article, if you need it. birdcrazy
Angelos let Duquette do whatever he wanted last year, and there were really no results. I would not be surprised if he decided a little closer look was needed.
waroriole
I will say this all this negative PR. I will bet anything they made a big move in the next 10 days. You think Petey cares about negative PR? They had 14 losing seasons in a row and he still didn't care.

weams
I doubt that Angelos specifically told anybody to get rid of JJ. But I am positive that Angelos gave DD a budget where paying JJ $10 million was impossible. So they're both right. I disagree. HE could have traded Chris Davis, Adam Jones, or JJ Hardy and kept Johnson. I was going to say Markakis, but y'know.

The last time, he made Beattie trade for Sosa.
Redskins Rick
I am guessing you were mad about Mark Reynolds being let go as well. You can't overpay for bad players. I don't understand how anyone thinks Jim Johnson is worth 10+ million blowing game after game. Actually, Reynolds being let go was a sound fiscal moved, and backed up by his poor play last year. I never said Johnson was worth 10+ million. I said he wasn't awful.

I said he wasn't awful. If he isn't worth 10 million than why do we have all these posts by everyone complaining about Johnson being let go. I think the lack of return verifies that he is overpayed. Anyway why does everyone get upset about Angelos all the time. He is running the team as a business. You all know that. I used to think we might sign someone big but I got over that. You should know we aren't going to be a top payroll team and we aren't a bottom payroll team. We are in the middle just like our attendance figures. We have good management now so at least our money is spent wisely.

You can apologize for him all day long, but it doesn't take away the fact. Additional TV money (27million) has been allocated to each MLB. Peter is not allowing DD to use any additional money. He is content with the payroll staying the same. Yes, people are ticked off, the franchize is doing very well fiscally, and while most of us, dont expect them to go after Cano and the very big/stupid contracts. You need to make improvements by adding some of the middle tier FAs, and they are not even courting them.

Realize the payroll isn't going to be over 105 million and live with it. No reason to make yourself upset over something you can't change.
Redskins Rick
When the media says the same thing over and over based on your actions whether correct or not....perception is reality. Unfortunately, Angelos comes by his poor reputation as a MLB owner honestly and just by misguided misconception. There are numerous errors in judgement over the years, and fans are getting tired of his ownership.
