Delmon Young doesnt impress me at least not thus far this spring...

Whys that exactly? He was brought in for offense coming off the bench or DH at times...hes hitting .300+ so far and most games he's played contributed atleast one run or rbi... idk if he hit many homers, but neither has Jones or Davis.

Hes doing better than Mr. Pearce.

They've been pretty comparable. OPS is .778 to .742. In this sample size, it doesn't really matter though. Pearce has the advantage of being able to play several positions adequately and having a better approach. He was also good last year, while Young has been awful since 2011. Pearce is the better choice for the bench.

And he is a lot less likely to do something off the field to embarrass the club.

Like I said last year he should just retire. His body is in bad shape why make it worse? I have no idea why the Orioles signed him this year.

Well first because if he recovers he has proven he can produce at the ML level. But Buck revealed the biggest reason earlier in the off season. The guy hurt himself diving into the stands and there was a sense of loyalty within the organization. Buck even threw some credit towards PA for his willingness to make the offer to Nolan. I think it shows some character within the organization to give him every chance to make it back.

To be fair, Young is perfectly capable of doing embarrassing things on the field (i.e., throw a bat at an umpire), too. However, given the injuries to other bench options like Reimold, Peguaro, and Almanzar, and the desire to delay Schoop's free agency for a season (and stop striking out as much as he did this spring), I don't really have a problem with Young starting the season on the big league roster. How do they clear roster space for Young? 60-day DL for Bundy?

Depends on how he invests it. But you can't live on one or two million forever. 78% of NFL players have financial problems two years after retiring. Most million dollar lottery winners are also broke after a few years.

If I had one (1) million bucks I could park it in the market and live comfortably off the dividends for the rest of my life.
