Does this deal hurt the Orioles and Davis? I'm not saying Davis is in Miguel league but if Davis has another big year will he look for this kinda coin?

Nah, I'm sure Boras will allow him to settle with us for a reasonable team friendly deal.

Even if no one other than Cabrera is Cabrera, I think any top end deal probably impacts the Davis negotiations to some degree.

I don't think it hurts or helps Davis. Caberera is the best hitter in the game, and this deal is fairly in line with what is being paid to others in that rare category. Davis is not in that category.

Cabrera has been doing this since age 17.

Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera has been arrested on drunken driving charges in Florida. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office says the 27-year-old player’s car engine was smoking alongside a road late Wednesday when a deputy spotted the vehicle. According to the arrest report, Cabrera smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and took a swig from a bottle of scotch in front of a deputy.

Oh, and in case that wasn’t enough, the details of the arrest show just how ugly an incident this really was. Cabrera cussed out the arresting officers, ran out into the street and played the “do you know who I am?” card.

This was in 2011. Imagine how much he'd be getting if he were not carrying this comet trail.

When Cabrera was interacting with the police he told them "[expletive] shoot me. Kill me." Before he was arrested Cabrera was twice asked to leave a bar and he threatened the bar's manager, "You don't know me. I will kill you. I know all of you, and I will kill all of you and blow this place up." Cabrera also later threatened to shoot a police officer.
