6 years, $52.5 mm plus an option for $16.5 mm.

•$1 million signing bonus

•$2 million for 2014

•$4 million for 2015 (Arb 1)

•$6 million for 2016 (Arb 2)

•$9 million for 2017 (Arb 3)

•$13.5 million for 2018 (FA1)

•$14.5 million for 2019 (FA2)

•and the club option for 2020 worth $16.5 million, with a $2.5 million buyout

For what it's worth, here are the comparable years for Pedroia: $1.75 mm, $3.75 mm, $5.75 mm, $8 mm, $10 mm, $12.5 mm, with another $12.5 in the Kipnis "option year." Though you'd have to adjust for salary inflation over the last 5 years, I'd say that either Kipnis did very well for himself, or the Red Sox got a real bargain on Pedroia, or both.

I look at Pedroia's contract as one where a championship-level player chose not to max out dollars to stay in one place, and at first glance this looks the same to me. Both are 2B where the injury risks are high, so perhaps that factored in more than I would guess based on how good the player is.
