I understand that, but what does it have to do with what I said? You're the one who quoted my statement.

Jones said that he was not afraid of repercussions from his employer due to his freedom of speech. That is incorrect. The essence of "freedom of speech" is what I said, though I have the historical perspective to understand that the government has violated that right with arguments like "preserving the Union" and "protecting U.S. citizens" in the past.

Lets get back to Adam and his inalienable rights to swing freely.

You said "The 1st amendment protects you from any repercussions from the government." The Patriot Act renders that statement false, by essentially saying that the Constitution can be trumped by executive order.

Alright, I got lawyered and was too loose with my words. Point to you.

Still, my point remains. Too many people think that freedom of speech protects them from repercussions from their employer. It does not. If Adam had gone on an ugly tirade about how awful the umpires are, freedom of speech would not protect him from punishment.
