Where would the M's prospects rank...

What has Rowell actually done to rate that high?

If you really want to make this interesting, how about throwing Matt Murton, Felix Pie, Sean Gallagher, Sean Marshall, Ronny Cedeno and the Patterson kid (forgot his first name) into the mix with the Seattle prospects (including Morrow and Ballentien) and the Orioles prospects and come up with a good top 15 or 20. Then we'd see what we really should be shooting for.

And yes, I know that som of these guys are not really "prospects" any more, but I did see Scott Moore on the Orioles list, which confused me a little.

Rowell is the second best prospect in the Orioles' system today, not Rhadames. Liz is far too old to be considered in the top 3 IMO. He's essentially Daniel Cabrera from 3 years ago without any major league experience. Is that better then a 19 year old power hitter who has performed very well in the low minors?

11-4 3.22 137 ip 161 k's held hitters to a 204 average

He throws mid to high nineties with life and has a developing changeup

By the way - just checked John Sickels at minorleagueball - he has Liz third

Didn't he throw a no hitter too?

It isn't an exact science but the kid a great year. Baseba;; America has him at two - Rowell at five

Does Hayden Penn no longer count as a prospect? He's pitched 58 innings in the big leagues spread out over 2 seasons (38-1/3 in 2005 & 19-2/3 in 2006). Is that enough to lose rookie status? I can never remember how many innings the cut off is? If he still has rookie status, there's no excuse for him not making the O's top 30.

As for the M's guys. I gave my 2 cents. Our farm would be much stronger with those additions, but I don't think Clement or Triunfel are coming here. The other 3 could very well be O's property, but I think the M's are going to be keeping Clement and Triunfel, the two best of this group.

That's how I see it. I know absolutely nothing about Yung Chi Chen and couldn't find anything about him. (Help...?) I may be inclined on my own list to put Liz above Spoone and drop Erbe to just above Beato, but that's just me. I adhered to your guidelines Greg. :D

50 innings total is the cutoff.

Chen missed most of last season with a shoulder injury, but was able to play in the AFL He did well enough that the Mariners felt they needed to protect him and they placed him on the 40 man roster.

Looking at his numbers from his last full season, he looks like a guy who will hit for a good average with good plate discipline but only average power, a little speed, and a very solid glove at 2B. He'll turn 25 mid-season this year, so he's a little on the old side for someone who hasn't really seen much AAA, but that's only because of the shoulder injury.

I agree with you on Butler but I would put Tillman at 7. He performed better than Erbe, at a higher level than Beato, and Arrieta didn't pitch til AFL.

Now that I think about it I would have Spoone at 7 and Tillman 8.
