Note to self - Frobby jinx not working......:boogie:

Actually, it's 13 games in a row that Nick has been on base at least twice each game -- he's hitting .373/.475/.549 in that stretch, with 19

hits and 10 walks in the 13 games.

Great to see the homers in consecutive games, no matter how many they drove in. Nick's had a few moments in his career where when he starts hitting homers in burst, most notably towards the end of his rookie year. Maybe this will be the start of a little run for him, which certainly would bring some power to the lineup that's been missing save for Cruz and Wieters.

And I am loving life!

I am a Nick fan, and I was able to pick him up as a backup OF for my fantasy team, and actually been starting him, so its double satisfying when he does good! :)

I never would've thought, at any point in time during the season, that Nick Markakis and Chris Davis would have the same number of HRs. :) Davis could've only played 5 games and I still would've guessed he'd have more HRs. lol

He has the same number as Miguel Cabrera as well.

On a side note Wieters has more then Davis and Miggy combined.

Or that Markakis would have more home runs than Adam Jones.

Adam's career stats show that May is by far his best month; let's hope he gets back on track soon. With the added guns of Cruz, Young, and Clevenger, it would help mask the absence of Crush for a while.

I hope so.

He needs to hit at least 33 home runs by season's end to keep his streak going (increasing or at least tying the number of home runs every year since we acquired him before the 2008 season.)

Speaking for myself, I don't care very much about that streak. I care more about him getting his OBP back to where it was in 2012, or higher. Obviously, we do need him to supply some power, too.

I'm not holding out any hope for that type of performance the rest of the way! Returning during the remaining 126 games to his 33 homers / 160 games ratio of last season, however, would yield 26 homers (27 for the season). I think 23 for the season is a reasonable expectation, although I'd be delighted with more. I'd also hope that he could compensate somehow in other areas of offense and his work in CF.

I can't tell you how much joy it gave me to see Nick hit those 2 HRs yesterday. I'd always been a big backer of his--not quite Frobby level, mind--but I was starting to lose faith after his slow start this season. If it turns out that the cause of his capitulation last season was really injuries and he gets near to his pre 2013 level, I will be absolutely thrilled.

AJ showed some signs of getting out of his slump in game 2 yesterday, btw. Things would look pretty damn rosy if AJ and Ubaldo were to have a good game tonight and we win...

Nick's streak of getting on base at least twice ended on Friday when he got on base only once. He was on base twice on Saturday with a double and a single. Now hitting .310/.367/.422.

More than his solid numbers, he just looks very good at the plate right now.

    • After his Cy Young performance against us, Marsh was very pedestrian in his next 2 starts.  Be nice to take tonight's game with Ragans pitching tomorrow.  2 out of 3 would be a great result.
    • Should win tonight. There’s no way they can get shut down by a pitcher of Marsh’s capabilities twice.
    • WC wanted to give him a contract extension.  Others agreed although I don’t remember who they were.  I think Frobby was open to the discussion??
    • I've seen Stowers "lollygag" a lot this year. I wonder if he's just frustrated being stuck in AAA once again. No matter how everything is presented, these guys have to be upset that they are stuck in AAA when they could be playing in the MLB with other orgs.  Of course the best way to get out of that is to perform, but that's easier said than done. Saying all that, Stowers has always been a streaky hitter. He's white hot or ice cold.
    • Here's John Means statcast info from this last start. Here was his main problem. He couldn't throw many quality strikes and was pulling almost everything glove side. I'm no pitching expert, and I don't know where he was standing on the rubber, but Ben McDonald talks about this all the time where the pitcher needs to make an adjustment on the pitching rubber when he missing to one side too often. Here's his movement since 2019 T The one thing to note is Means' stuff has been pretty average to below average since 2021. He's always relied on changing speeds and location vs incredible stuff. He had no location in this last start but everything else like velocity and movement look similar to the last few years.  So I'm not overly worried about Means. I also don't expect him to be much better than Irvin if and when he comes back, but you never know.
    • Their 55 relief innings are a MLB low ytd as all the starters have done well.    I think they probably want to ride those horses as much as they can as one of my takeaways from the first series was how slow all the relievers throw. Witt's a good MVP rabbit for Gunnar to chase, and he might bring up the question if a Club can still get a Prospect Promotion incentive bonus pick if the player is technically out of pre-Arb by virtue of having signed a LTC. Here are the ERA starting numbers of the lowest-tier of AL SP in strikeout rate: 6-4-8-6-8-1-10-4-7-7-6-7.    Marsh and Lugo have two of the low numbers there. Maikel Garcia has gone ice cold, a bit surprising as he looked All World against us.    They are just now getting perhaps intended starting 2B Michael Massey back from a spring injury (Adam Frazier all singles so far on the season). Burnes-Ragans rematch should have our guy's dander up...we pulled it out against the bullpen but he was outpitched by a lot that night.    Doesn't matter now but it looks like Ragans has never thrown more than about 2200 pitches in a season, in case they end up needing him for more than 26.5 regular season weeks.
    • Well, he didn't know he was going to have a short stint when he was pitching.
