That's pretty interesting. While overall, baseball is shifting back to a hitting neutral environment (or perhaps even a slight pitching environment), catchers are hardly being affected at all.

Like the article says, the easy answer is to say there are simply a better crop of hitters at catcher, even for the sake of diminished defense. But I suspect that's not entirely the case. CS% may be going down because more speedy athletic players are making 25 man rosters post Steroid Era. And I wonder if catchers didn't benefit as much from the offensive era as other positions, for whatever reason. I say that because the stats listed from the C position are remarkably steady.
