Not only did Fernandez throw 8 shutout innings, he did so with the slimmest of margins.

Braves starter Alex Wood threw 8 innings of 1-run ball himself, allowing only an RBI-single in the 4th inning, which was the only run of the game for either team.

0 walks and 14 strikeouts, also.

The Marlins have 4 starting pitchers with E.R.A.'s under 3, and one of the four has an E.R.A. under 2.

Jose Fernandez OOOOo. 1.59

Nathan Eovaldi OOOOo. 2.58

Henderson Alvarez OO 2.73

Tom Koehler OOOOOOOoo 2.97

Now the Marlins have TWO starting pitchers with an E.R.A. under 2.00, and two others under 3.00.

Those boys can pitch.

Tom Koehler threw 8 shutout innings today against the Mets, in a 1-0 Marlins victory.

No margin for error for Koehler ...... 1-0 !!!

So, following this season, Giancarlo Stanton has two more years of arbitration remaining. Sporting the highest OPS+ career and on pace for the highest HR total of his career, along with being #2 in NL rWAR (only behind Clayton Kershaw), this coming offseason may be the high point of Stanton's value. Marlins should probably consider dealing him before 2015 for the highest return if they are not going to sign him LT. What do you think the cost for a team to acquire him would be? To put it in perspective, would an O's package have to be something like Bundy & Harvey & Sisco & Walker?
