The difference between 1-0 vs 0-1 counts are huge. OBP after 0-1 is .261.. after 1-0 .383. Constantly swinging at every first pitch assures you're OBP is going to be closer to .261 rather than .383. Absolutely nothing wrong with swinging at "your pitch" if you get it first pitch, but otherwise make em throw the strike. See a few pitches.

And I don't disagree with any of this. I was specifically referring to the fact that Manny seemingly got "his pitch" and struck one really well. It obviously wasn't perfect contact bc that would have been gone, but against a lesser defensive OF or with some slight changes in direction, that easily could have been a two bagger.
