Dylan Bundy update

Dylan Bundy (elbow) threw 50 pitches Thursday in a bullpen session.

The next step calls for Bundy to throw live batting practice for the first time next Tuesday. If all goes well, he could be throwing in games within two weeks. The O's will obviously exercise caution with their top pitching prospect, but he has a chance to make an impact with the big club by the All-Star break at this rate.

The bolded statement is pretty ridiculous. If we see Bundy at all, it will be in September.

Bundy will not see the Orioles this season, Book it! Suggesting otherwise is just plain lunacy. The Orioles will take extreme caution with Bundy and give him the time he needs. I imagine that he has a chance next season (the 2nd season after TJ is usually much better for a pitcher)

Gotta disagree with this logic. I've seen too many quotes from Duquette and Showalter saying there's a good chance we could see Bundy late this year, maybe not as a starter, but in the bullpen.

If Dylan Bundy has an impact on the O's this season... than things will have gone very poorly for the O's.

I hope they do the correct thing and keep him off the ML roster this year.

I have no problem at all using him in September if he's short of whatever innings limit the Orioles have in mind and he's pitching well enough to help.

If he remains on schedule, shows no arm fatigue, then he will be up in September if only to get him use to the regiment and atmosphere. Book it. BS will selectively use him and give him chances to succeed.

"Pvt. Bundy reporting for duty, sir!"

"Is the ball coning out of your hand well, Pvt?"

"Sir, yessir!"

"Well, glad to have you aboard! Now get to work!"

How is it any better for Bundy to be pitching in Bowie or Norfolk than Baltimore? I guess they don't care about winning, so they can goof around and put him in any role than want, even taking up a roster spot for one inning a week. But if he's healthy and getting results in the minors I don't see much that precludes him from pitching for the Orioles when he's medically cleared.
