Wins is such an important stat. I'm all about getting our guy Chen the win.

Go team!

Stats guys disagree on the importance of wins (for pitchers) but it is ultimately WINS that determine the AL East.

Oh I agree. I just don't see the need to pick at every scab until it bleeds. Predicting failure in baseball is no great feat. A lot of this stuff doesn't qualify as analysis or even entertaining commentary.

No, but it probably does fulfill some deep seated need to critique a sport they can only watch.

Yordano Ventura has a 2.34 E.R.A., a 1.110 W.H.I.P., and is averaging more than a strikeout per inning (44 strikeouts in 42.33 innings pitched.)

IN HIS LAST 2 OUTINGS ...... he gave up 3 runs in each of them, going 6 , and then 6.33 innings in each of them, respectively.

And so, here we are with him tonight.

RUNS: 2

PITCHES: 95

INNINGS: 6

And so, he finishes at 104 pitches, 6.33 innings, and 2 runs (with 2 baserunners still pending.)

Not bad on either end (the Orioles, or Ventura.)
