This is why buck irritates me so much. You bring in darren oday in this situation. Not this Brach kid who stands no chance

So in what potentially looks like a back-and-forth game you want to waste one of our best relievers in that situation? Who are you bringing in if we get a lead in the late and need to close it out? The same pitcher you're screaming about? Yeah, that makes sense.

RIght move. We need to get at least another inning out of Brach.

Not only do you have to figure on 8 innings of bullpen... you also have to consider the possibility of extra innings.

Gausman not pitching tonight. He better get ready to come to Baltimore.

Last night. From Roch:

Triple-A Norfolk's Kevin Gausman allowed four runs and six hits in five innings last night, with one walk, six strikeouts and one homer. He's thrown 87 pitches, 56 for strikes.

Gausman took a shutout into the fifth.

"I was reading the narrative," Showalter said. "They said he had two broken-bat singles and a swinging bunt. And they said he made a bad pitch selection that cost him a little bit, but they said he pitched pretty well. His stuff was good. Just one of those nights."
