He pitched a great game last time out.

And his day today might not wind up any worse than Max Scherzer's today or Justin Verlander's yesterday, just to name a few.

If you thought he was a real ace, then yeah you should be worried. But if you think he's a solid #2/#3 pitcher, then I wouldn't be too worried. Hes a solid but not great pitcher, and those types have off days occasionally.

He has had bad first innings in quite a few starts this year and Palmer just said "it's so obvious he has nothing this game". I feel like these outings are much more frequent this year.

This. Tillman had a couple of bad outing after a 50 pitch inning in his first game v. the Pirates, and another here after 117 pitches in his last start. I tend to think two things.

1) The pirates have probably figured out Tillman

2) He's struggling after outings most pitchers struggle after with extended outings or innings. Throwing 49 pitches in an inning can be really really bad for a pitchers arm.

Maybe its a perfect time to get an extra day of rest.

He has had 3 good starts this year and 1 ok one. Other then that he has been pretty bad. So feel free to get off at the homer stop.

Probably the groin injury. Palmer was saying Tillman can't get over his front side and was not finishing pitches.

Whether you like it or not if Tillman goes on the DL, Gausman gets called up to start.

However, I think at minimum we might be looking at a Justin Masterson clone: someone that can be phenomenal when on, but less than mediocre more often than not.

he needs to go on the dl. He was throwing 90mph batting practice tonight. Something is wrong physically, causing the drop in velocity. He needs to rest imo.

The results were good. He has not been sharp for awhile.
