I don't think he puts them over the top. We need a couple of starters that can cover some quality innings.

The Orioles are in a bad situation. They would really need to blow up the future to win now, or possibly trade some players now for the future. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think one pitcher gets us on par with Oakland, Detroit, or even L.A. Angels at this point.

I guess I'm more of a realist and dont have great expectations that any more than maybe 1 or 2 of our pitching prospects ever pan out to be solid starters. That being said, I still wouldnt give up 2 of them for a #2 pitcher. A true Ace...maybe. But despite Samardzija's numbers this year, I still dont know that I'd call him a true Ace. Any one of Bundy, Gausman or ERod as well as a few mid levels and I'd do it. God knows having ANY quality starter couldnt hurt us right now.

Ugh. I think I would give up one of Bundy or Gausman, but no way both.

I'd prefer giving up Gausman, honestly. Just personal bias on my part. I haven't been impressed with his ML/MiL performances thus far, and his inefficiency/wildness bothers me.

That said, my uneducated guess would be that the Cubs would look for Gausman, Harvey/ERod, and another player (at least) for Samarjawhatsit. Not sure who the third player might be, but I'd expect to hear names like Wright, Berry, etc.

Very tempting. Still, I look at his K/9 going down to 7.7 this year and I have to think that 1.68 ERA is deceptive for a guy with career ERA 3.90. Could turn out to be another Scott Feldman - might bring a couple additional wins over what we have, but still not quite the legit "ace" that we really need. We got Feldman for Arrieta and Strop, neither of whom are in the league of Gausman/Bundy.

For two years of Cliff Lee on the other hand...
