Please, don't use ad blocking on this site

Again, to clarify. Everyone has their own level of risk averse behavior. Tony has asked that his loyal supporters turn off their ad blockers and allow this site to be properly funded. You don't have to do this. He would appreciate it if you do.

Chrome and Safari depending on if I'm editing/uploading video. Can't tell which particular add. It has smoothed out some this morning and I had no issues prior to yesterday.

Great, let me know if it crops up and any information you can gain when/if it occurs again.

BTW, I have been here a long time, and still never caught a cold from the Hangout.

Me ither, nor has anyone ever legitimately compakined that they got a virus from any of advertisiments. I realize malvertizements exist, but I would argue they exists through less than reputable companies on less than reputable sites. Every person that has ever said anything to us realized they had a virus already on their computers. Our ad networks are US based, and they deal with major companies and sites much bigger than the Hangout.

Again, people can choose to continue to block the ads, that is their right and I respect that. Hopefully the ones that do will or have chosen to support us through plus memberships or attending our events.

Either way, we appreciate them all and thank them for being Hangouters!

One more thing and I'm going to be quiet. It isn't that I don't trust the HO and have no faith in them, it's the way I have security set up on this computer. Most (I see some of them) of the ads displayed on the HO are in fact in one of the two list I have added for security. They aren't in these list because 'someone' thought it was fun to add them.

I don't want to enable/disable these list to visit this site and that doesn't mean I don't want tot support the HO.

BTW, this is good to talk about, maybe not here

I just found out and joined the Kashi Class action lawsuit on an OH banner ad. Turns out Kashi isn't "all natural" after all and I've been irreparably harmed. Those bastards. Now I stand to make some big bucks. Thank you OH advertisements !!!

Thanks for asking. Most ad networks sell ads on a cost per thousand impressions. The more ads that are viewed, the more money they/we make. There are trackign systems in place that allows them and us to know how many ads were served and at what cost per thousand they paid off.

Saying all that, we appreciate and respect all of our members and if some people don't feel compfortable running ads, we understand and repsect that decision. However, we are glad that so many have decided to turn off their ad blockers for this site.

Well I use my phone and I see ads so I don't think I am restricting them at all.

But now that I know I will log on everyday even if I don't want to post or read just so you guys can get some coin! Haha

If you guys get paid by the ad display, I'll try and remember to come here on my non-blocked browser. But if it's ad clicks that count, then it won't really matter at all, as I don't click on them ever... regardless of site.

Well, not deliberately. My cat jumped on my mouse hand yesterday and caused me to accidentally click one. But even if accidentally, "I click on a web ad once per decade" would be an accurate statement.

AdWCleaner from toolslib.net It is by far their most downloaded program.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I got rid of 90% of my problem (hard drive running CONSTANTLY) with Norton 360 and Norton Boot Realoader Tool (or whatever NBRT stands for) but one little bit of the virus remains.

I mostly access the site using my ipad. That way I don't feel overly concerned clicking on the ads. That being said, I have noticed lately that sometimes when I'm browsing the Hangout, the AppStore opens up on its own, and a pop up. Appears for some game. It's happened quite a few times, but I keep forgetting to take note of the name of the app it opens up. Anyone else have this issue?

Anyway, keep up the good work Tony, and I'll keep checking out your advertisers.

Adam

I get those a lot on my iPhone. Just close 'em or hit back. Pain but not a big pain. Nothing malignant. :noidea:
