Yeah, that would be a tremendous blow to the Blue Jays. I wouldn't say their ship is sunk though. They can move Adam Lind to 1B and Juan Francisco to DH (or just Francisco to 1B) when Brett Lawrie comes back. If Encarnacion is down for a while I think they become immediate buyers for a RH bat.

With Encarnacion going down yesterday, I really wonder if the Jays are going to continue playing .500+ ball. No report on the extent of his injury yet but it didn't look good to me.

I posted Canadian Bacon clips in the feels different thread. So I say No. They won't. And Price is going to the Dodgers, so I really don't see any difference makers they could acquire.

Rays have got hot. I could see them holding on for a few weeks to see where they're at.

They have to trade Price now. Sorry. They have no choice. They can't pay him next year, he will never have more value.

They can pay him. They can also trade him in the offseason. The slightly reduced return is offset by the small likelihood of catching fire and winning this year.

They were already in talks with Oakland. Now Price knows that.

And Dirk went and blabbed about the pillowcase.

Almost a month later ......

The Orioles have gone 15-7 since this article was posted, and have gone from being in a first-place tie with the Blue Jays to having a 2 and-a-half game lead in the division.
