Orioles Trade Targets?

My question is what do the Orioles really need?

Between Jimenez, Tillman, Chen, Norris, Gausman, and Gonzo the rotation seems alright to me.

LF is fine. DH is fine. 1B is Davis for better or worse. C is fine.

I don't like any of the available 2B. Maybe a RP or LH bench bat would be nice. But nothing serious.

This is basically exactly what I was about to post. LF and DH are there. Yes, both will probably come down to Earth a bit in the second half, but they are a strength at this point. No need to upgrade.

Our catchers are fine.. maybe more than fine with Joseph. I didn't like him at first, but frankly (assuming his offense in June is what we're looking at long term for him) I'm fine with him as a replacement to Mauer Money. I actually think he (SSS i know) might be better defensively.

1st base is not changing.. no way. If Davis doesn't get out of his funk, then he'll simply continue to hurt us for the rest of the year.

Concerning 2nd base, I don't want anyone else there unless their last names are Cano or Altuve. Schoop is the future and the present of that position for us. Yes, he's still very much learning the offense, however, defensively, I think many people under value him. He's basically tied for the lead on the team in dWar with Hardy and Joseph as it stands. He has good range, an extremely powerful arm, and is smooth as silk turning DPs with Hardy.

What we need is a true number 1 starter. And that simply is not happening... at least not via trade or signing. Most teams either don't have one or won't trade their's. Only one that out there as it stands seems to Price. He's not really even there numerically this year.. he's basically Bud Norris except he pitches a few more innings. Rays will demand too much and won't trade in division.

I really don't wanna trade for another 3-4 type starter.. we have plenty of those. It's giving up way too much for marginal to no true gains. Assuming a 5 man rotation, and assuming we don't just continue to clown Gausman around for the entire year, we have 2 number 3-5 starters in our bullpen in the forms of Gonzo and TJ. So who gets bumped if we trade for someone? Buck will not demote Tillman (barring some ridiculous total collapse). Ubaldo's contract protects him.. DD will not concede being fleeced this early. So that leaves Chen and Norris who lead the team in Ws and WAR for starters, respectively. So unless we can get a Chris Sale without giving up Gausman or Bundy, then I don't think we should bother getting a starter.

I wouldn't mind getting a solid lefty reliever. Let's get Tony Sipp from Houston, would be a monster addition to our bullpen.

Mostly, we simply need better production from the players we're currently married to.. and will stay married to until this year is over. So, Tillman, Ubaldo, Davis, Machado. These 4 players are the going to be the key to our chances at the playoffs. None of them are going anywhere, so they're it. Schoop (Flash too I guess) and Caleb are great defensively and seem to be picking it up a bit with the bat. We can afford their poorer offense, if Machado and Davis play to a level that's even remotely close of what they are capable of.

I think that's the best option.

I'm horrible at making up trades, but for a half a year rental, I would hope we could acquire him without giving up any top prospect. He'd fit in really well with this lineup, and his OBP and ability to both hit and catch would really solidify the lineup. Would make keeping Schoop on the team all year much more palatable.

What we need: TOR SP, solid defensive 2B who can hit, solid defensive C who can hit, LH RP who can get both LH and RH batters out. What we'll get. The RP, maybe the C.

I think Buck and company likes the catchers we have at the moment. I think if we get anything it will be that LH bat, hopefully a 2B LH at that. Possibly bull pen depth.

AJ Piersinski (spelling?) was mentioned on telecast as possible target despite being in the same division.

Why would anyone want him? I will roll with what we got.
