Orioles Trade Targets?

Shin-Soo Choo of course!

Franklin would be an interesting get but I'm not sure who Seattle would take for him. They're in line for at least a Wild Card right now. They could use an outfielder, DH and starting shorstop. And maybe a back-of-rotation starter.

Choo is horrible this year.

But, but... Choo Choo!

Actually Shin-Soo is not doing horribly. He's sitting at .254/.378/.401 (117 OPS+) and 0.9 WAR. but he's definitely not earning his contract. I was joking 'cause he was the OBP king we wanted.

Why are we quoting people who haven't got a clue what they're talking about?

Would Schoop, EdRod and Wei-Yin Chen be enough to get Cole Hamels and Chase Utley?

I don't see the point in trading for a starting pitcher, unless we are trading one of our mid-rotation guys (Chen or Norris, for instance) plus prospects for a clear frontline starter.

That's not enough even if the Phillies didn't eat salary. But they would have to eat money for the O's to take on Hamels' contract. If they are eating money, they are going to want even more than that.

I think we'll get a lefty reliever and call it a night. If this is the case I hope we get Tony Sipp from Houston.

I really don't want to mortgage the farm for some NL mid tier pitcher who is a complete side grade from whatever else we have at the moment. If we aren't trading for an ACE with a year left, I don't really see the point.

Why can't we trust our own for a change ? This current team is by far the best we've had since 96-97, we may not be perfect and certain players playing below norms . But look where they've gotten us so far 1st place and to think what this team can truly do is amazing. Yes I'd love a true #1 but so does at least twenty one or so other teams out there. Give Gausman Bundy Harvey Rodriguez there chance. Hell if other teams want them why don't we?!!!. STAND PAT!!!!! Tillman Norris Chen Gausman Rodriguez ulbado ( not positive on name Spelling's please correct if needed. TY) development is what we need not other teams washed up or unwanted players.

I think this is the most likely event. Maybe a lefty in the pen. I'm currently big on Tony Sipp with Houston. No reason for them to want him really.. always looking for a cheap prospect. He's 30 a lefty, 3.04 ERA, 5 walks to 31 Ks, .165 opponent batting.

Welcome to the board. A lot of us have similar sentiments to yours expressed here. It is however, a responsibility of a good GM to bring reinforcements for the team that has brought us this far and to position the Orioles for a deeper playoff run this time.
