Right now the Orioles are 6-2 in games 81-88. It could be the first time they exceed 6-4 -- or not.

I thought it might be interesting to compare our AL East competitors:

Toronto

New York

Boston

Tampa

8-2

Bottom line, the O's have been steady if unspectacular. They haven't had any really long winning streaks (5 is their longest) or losing streaks (4). They've played well over the last few weeks and hopefully will continue to do so despite the tougher schedule ahead.

o

Excellent thread Franklyn, and great info.

While the Orioles have been extremely frustrating at times this year by seemingly not being able to get out of their own way, they have also avoided any big turns downward by not having any 10-game block worse than 4-6 (there may have been one or two times in which they went 3-7 over a 10-game stretch, but they quickly righted the ship, which brought them back up to a minimum of 4-6 or better over the exact 10-game increment marks of 10 games into the season, 20 games into the season, 30 games into the season, etc.)

The only other team in the division that has been able to do that this season has been the Yankees, and I think that we are a better team than them, in addition to the fact that we are also 3.5 games ahead of them in the standings.

I hate to see this 8-2 run go to waste. Wish the All-Star break was another week away. I want them to keep their momentum a little while longer. It will be interesting to see how the respond to the break!

It will be hard to gear it back up.

They blew a couple of golden opportunities to have gone 7-3 or 8-2 in the first game of the Athletics series, and the last game of the Angels series .......... but, in these 10-game increments, they continue to be uncannily steady.

Only two 10 game chunks under .500 Keep that up and sprinkle in a few 6-4 and we should be in the playoffs.
