Is Chris Davis going to hit in the 5 hole regardless the rest of the season? Why?

Because he's left handed. You'd seriously trot out Nick Markakis and a string of eight RH hitters against RH pitching? Or is Ryan Flaherty going to save us?

Odd timing considering he accounted for 1/3 of the runs driven in tonight.

Yeah, he's really busting out of that slump with a sac fly.

Remember Hardy in the 2 hole all season? Or Vlad at 4? Davis isn't moving.

Because he's Chris Davis. BTW not only did he drive in a precious run tonight, that play on the bunt probably saved a run.[/quote

That play on the bunt was amazing. Not many guys make that play. I could see him dropping to 6th and moving Manny up. But you're not going to take him out of the line up or drop him down much further.

Davis's performance with RISP is fine: .286 / .435 / .543 / .978 in 70 at-bats (plus 19 walks). 3 doubles, 5 homers, 33 RBIs in those 70 ABs. That's what you want out of a number 5 hitter. Hardy and Manny batting behind him will also keep his runs scored total up.

3 RBI in his last 5 games an 14 in his last 23. That's a pretty good pace for a guy who's not hitting much.

I think he's getting closer to being right than he has been for a while. There have been some ABs where he hasn't looked totally out of control. One day in the next 7 he's going to start hitting the ball hard to left field. That will be the first sign that his turnaround has begun.

If he gets it together by August 15 and stays hot through the playoffs, we'll all be happy to have him in the middle of the lineup.
