Phil Hughes has had phenomenal control this season.

Not including one intentional walk, he was walked 14 batters this season over 172.67 innings, for an average of 1 walk every 12.33 innings. :eektf:

He couldn't wait to get out of the pinstripes to turn into an Ace.
I remember when Ed Whitson was a good pitcher for the Padres in 1984 (they won the pennant that year.)

He signed as a free agent with the Yankees, and he wasn't so good for almost 2 years.

He was traded back to the Padres and had a decent season in 1987, a good season in 1988, a great year in 1989, and another great year in 1990:

He also got into a fistfight with Billy Martin at what's now the Radisson at Cross Keys.

Whitson broke Billy Martin's arm in that fight.

Gausman squirrely as usual, day game, CY Hughes on the mound, we rarely win more than 3 in a row. Good day to lose if we have to. MFY don't play.

I don't understand. Each team has two baserunners through 2 innings and one starter is squirrely and the other is Cy Young?
