How is the Yankee offense "underperforming on so many levels"?

What did people really expect out of these guys? I figured Tex would not be the same after hte major wrist injuries. Jeter is doing about what I expected. Ellsbury has the exact same OPS+ (113) that he did last year.

Did people expect 37 year old Beltran, 40 year old Ichiro, to produce?

They have one player under the age of 30, Yangervis Solarte, to get more than 129 plate appearances this year. And he is a journeyman who has been released by one or two teams.

Anyone who expected this lineup to be good was deluding themselves.

Is Johnson's glove really so much of an upgrade over Paredes' that his bat doesn't spoil the difference?

Johnson isn't good, but Paredes looks like Jeter flubbing routine ground balls at 3B. He's a butcher. Johnson has shown the ability to hit ML pitching.
