Trade Schoop?

I understand it as far as how the value financially he is to our team, yes. But age makes no difference to me if he sucks now and he MIGHT be a good player in the future. There are ways to keep him around without him being our everyday 2b.

So you don't understand the concept that the younger a player is when he makes it to the majors how much more likely he is to have long term success?

OK, now your whole argument makes sense.

Come back when you understand the concept.

Frankly, this is THE answer but am not sure I would've given it an A.... plus, not sure what post you were referring to. :)

You only highlight the part that makes your argument right. Come on dude. You can't guarantee me he is going to be good just cause he is young. Maybe it's more likely, whatever. We're in it to win it NOW, not in 5 years from now when Schoop may have developed into a good ball player. Get your head on straight

What Corn was saying is that in three years, Schoop might be better than Zobrist. Having NOTHING to do with money.

Seriously, if you do not understand the concept I am basing my argument on then I can't have a discussion with you. We are talking different languages. Go get educated and come back.

Oh my gosh, what is wrong with you? I can obviously comprehend that your argument is that you think Schoop may be good in the future based on how young he is now and that he is in the majors. If you can't comprehend what I'm saying, you need to get educated as well. All I'm saying is that we are ready to win now, we may not be in x number of years from now when according to you Schoop will come around.

And you are only using the numbers that back up your argument. According to ESPN, here is how the 14 AL Players who got at least 400 plate appearances (while playing 2B) ranked in WAR:

1) Cano 6.4

2) Altuve 6.0

3) Kinsler 5.5

4) Kendrick 5.4

5) Dozier 5.2

6) Zobrist 5.0

7) Pedroia 4.8

8) Schoop 1.6

9) Cabrera 1.2

10) Kipnis 0.9

11) Infante 0.7

12) Beckham 0.6

13) Odor 0.1

14) Callaspo -1.0

I think Schoop did pretty well for a 22 year old coming back from a season in which he suffered a broken back. This could be the worst year to trade him. He might be very very good in a year or two. Don't sell low.

He may be good in 2 years from now, and I hope he is if he is with the O's.

I will try and make it as simple as possible for you.

Guys that break into the majors at 22 have a tendency to get a LOT better then players that break into the league at a later date.

At 22 Schoop was damn near a league average player and was an average second baseman.

At 23 odds are good that Schoop will be an ABOVE average second baseman.

There is a very limited pool of potential replacements that would be expected to out perform Schoop by a decent amount next season.

It would take a substantial investment to acquire any of those players likely to out perform him.

None of the O's in house candidates are likely to outperform him.

What you don't understand is Can of Corn is the smartest person in the world when it comes to baseball. You can't opinions with him around. It's a classic caqse of narcissism.

Thanks for treating me like a 3rd grader. It makes me want to hear your opinions so much more when you start out saying " i will try to make this as simple as i can for you" I understand what you are saying, fully, totally, i understand it, and did before you explained it to me as if i was a toddler. I just don't agree with your opinion. I do not see how us taking a chance on him being good in the next few years is our best plan of attack. What's wring with him splitting time with other possible candidates?

I agree. There is no way we can win a division and 90+ games with Schoop at 2b.
