He had really no new updates... Here a few things he just noted on... Pretty much "blah" speak:

Day 43... Finally close to resolution...

Wants to ask MacPhail: "What the 'heck' happened?"

Overall season has seemed more quiet than usual with all the teams because of the waiting of the "bigger" trades.

Talked about how obviously payroll will be lower with the significant moves that are hopefully taking place.

Im hearing the reason that there is a hold up is Angelos. My source didnt say what he is doing, but its because Angelos is in the middle of things. Plus Jones is back in Phoenix. I guess he is waiting for a phone call. An Bedard has yet to take his physical. We thought he would over the weekend, but some reason he is still in Canada. Ill have more soon.

Take it with a grain of salt.

Roch says he was in Seattle yesterday and will take his physical today.

We are also considering and playing around the thought that the hold up might mean, O's may trade Bedard and Roberts at same time? Obviously Roberts to the Cubs.

I thought that this could be a possibility... we didn't hear the Roberts stuff until after it was confirmed that Seattle's guys had already taken their physicals.

This is certainly a possibility, IMO.

I'm not sure I would call anything this offseason obvious. It seems like everything changes direction 50 times before being completed.

    • Was it the same person who said this team was dead?
    • I’m dead serious. That’s one regular (who starter last week) and it was to be expected that he would struggle like almost all young guys do when they make the jump to the Majors. Hays doesn’t play everyday and was just playing yesterday to give Santander a rest. Yes Santander is struggling, so by my count that makes 2 guys struggling who are getting everyday ABs. And even if you go by the TWO that played yesterday, I have a hard time coming up with a figure that adds up to several. Unless, your math or understanding of the English language is different than mine. I don’t see TWO as equating to several guys, as you stated.
    • Someone said the other day he’s just another guy and should be cut.
    • Outside of Cowser, he’s the biggest surprise of the season so far for me.
    • It’s interesting to compare the careers of McFarland and Danny Coulombe. TJ debuted in 2013 and is 35; Danny debuted in 2014 and is 34. TJ has appeared in 362 big league games, throwing 480.1 innings at a 4.16 ERA (101 ERA+), and has been worth -0.1 rWAR; Danny has appeared in 262 games, throwing 250.1 IP aa 3.63 ERA (114 ERA+) and has been worth 3.1 rWAR. Going into this season, TJ had accrued 8.028 years of service and had been paid $10.5 mm; Danny had accrued 5.008 years and had been paid $5.2 mm. So I’d say at this point that McFatland has spent more time and bern used more heavily in the majors than Coulombe, and has been better paid, even though Coulombe has been more effective.
    • I remember him from his time with the Braves when I was in Atlanta. This is from the 'Rick Camp Game' in 85.
    • I don’t think his lack of command in the early going is going to be fixed by changing roles. Irvin typically has very good command. He didn’t at the beginning of last year, but recovered it after a stint in the minors. This year he’s having early problems again, but I think the reasons may be different. He’s gained velocity and he’s added a new pitch that moves well but he hadn’t quite figured out how to command. So, I don’t know if he’ll figure it out or not. If he does, he could emerge a better pitcher than at any previous time in his career. In any event, he will get at least two more starts before Means is ready to return. Hopefully he’ll make some progress, but he’s likely to find himself in the bullpen when Means returns regardless.
