Cruz - "I love the organization. The way they treat their players is amazing."

I had some trepidation about signing a guy known to have been involved in the Biogenesis matter, but I have to say, I thought Cruz showed himself to be a great teammate, even aside from his 40 HR season. I'd love to have him back, but I doubt it will make sense once the market speaks. If he goes, I'll remember his year with the O's fondly.

I'll think of him every time I check on how the kid they selected with the pick they got for him is doing.

Believe me, I REALLY want Cruz to stay as a DH - basically performing the function that David Ortiz does for the Red Sox. I just have a feeling he's going to push too hard for a higher salary and some team (the Cubs perhaps?) will be willing to go all in for the sake of a championship run.

If he does leave, I will miss him, I pray that he doesn't end up anywhere else in the AL East.

Ya, let's get a 30th pick in the draft and expect the kid to win 20 games or hit 40 hrs in a season. Good luck with that. We need to sign Cruz or Markakis and to do so will require overpaying one of them.

Chances are the Orioles would have picked someone else. Seems like an unhealthy obsession.

Just curious. Who is this kid and how did he do last season?

Actually, I may have misunderstood his post. Perhaps, he means he'll be following the kid that the O's use the pick for Cruz on. I thought that he was talking about following the kid that Texas drafted last year with the pick they received from the O's. Three hours of sleep is definitely not cutting it when it comes to my reading comprehension.

Best play is to take the amazing year from Cruz at $8M that cost a second round pick and part ways with a first round supplemental. That's what shrewd GMs do.

Ding, ding, ding.

I never even checked who the Rangers, Astros and Indians picked.

I sure hope we do not overpay for either one of them.

If we are going to overpay for someone PLEASE let it be for the better free agents!

Who is a better free agent?

Given the ratio of success with all picks, the odds are, the Orioles got the better end of that deal.

I doubt the team would have gone as far as they did, if they hadn't his bat all season.
