Colorado Rockies

Wondering if there could be a match with the Colorado Rockies for a 1B/Corner OF. Their recent surprising qualifying offer for Michael Cuddyer makes me think that they are moving someone and looking for pitching in return. Could we deal one of Gonzalez or Norris for one of their hitters:

I am pretty much assuming that we will get Markakis back and lose D. Young, Cruz, and Miller.

No. Gonzo and Norris are more valuable to the O's than any of these players.

I'm not sure if they would either, because Pearce is an unknown quality. But from our perspective, it makes little sense to trade a guy low after he is coming off a great year, especially one where the metrics don't show any obvious outliers that you would expect a decline from.

While I know little about the Rockies, despite living here, they do have a new young protege GM in charge. He's apparently someone who worked under the last guys who were constantly lambasted by my neighbors, so I don't know what that says about the new kid.

However, if he's now in charge of personnel, it could be a good time to see if he's planning on moving in a new direction. Might be interested in dealing more aggressively.

Coors Field effect. He was a league average hitter and a negative defender, and it isn't as if he's a young prospect either. He's a journeyman.

I know. But some people get enamored by hitting there, or pitching in the NL in general. It can be deceptive. It appears by math that he suddenly blossomed into a player that was worth 13 million a year. He isn't.

Plus other folks think the OBP is sustainable in the AL East. It isn't. It was .269 away from Coors. Almost Schoop level.

Dickerson is someone that I would pursue. Doubt they would trade him though.
