Is it safe to say that if we're in the market for starting pitching it's because we may be dealing some of our starting pitching to fill other areas? I could see having an interest in a guy like Burnett if we're trying to deal Norris or Chen to get a bat.

I'm sure it's a low ball offer. If he excepted a low offer for personal reasons I wouldn't be too upset. I think SP that could be had on one year deals like Burnett and Masterson would be a good approach if the plan is to trade from the surplus of SP to fill other needs.

If the 2013 version were to reemerge it would be a boost to the rotation.

I've always liked Burnett. Getting him out of the black hole that is Philly, and in front of our infield defense, and I think he'd be fine. I'm sure we are not/will not offer more than 1/10, but I think he'd be a solid addition if it happens and that price would be reasonable.

I'm not gonna pay attention to us supposedly offering contracts to pitchers unless it's scherzer, Lester or trading for hammels(never gonna happen)

Burnett is a great competitor, a guy who knows how to pitch and to teach others how to pitch, and was playing hurt last year. The Orioles should be looking to add depth at the right price and that could be Burnett. That said, I'm not giving him much, but you you will see a lot of worse pitchers get more this winter.
