I've wanted him the first three times we courted Burnett.

This time, I'm bleh on this topic. If we sign him to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training, tremendous. If he spurns us again, eh, whatever. But in either case, I won't be fooled again into the daily drama of "will he/won't he" sign with us.

The only way this makes sense is if you think you can trade away two of your six SP's. The thought would be to have Tillman, Gausman, two of the others and Burnett for this year with the FO believing Bundy takes Burnett's place next year or even in the season.

You need at least that many. I think teams average 32 starts per year from guys OTHER than their top 5. (read that somewhere, not looking it up again).

Exactly. One bad veteran free agent pitcher is about all we can afford at a time. I am so done with Burnett, though. I think he is a jerk as well as a bad pitcher. Don't want him even at the league minimum.

No reason to think he would have wanted to pitch in the AL.

Really need to go into the season with 6 or 7 solid starters....Guarantied one or two will be hurt or underperforming in the spring.
