Ubaldo Jimenez drawing 'moderate' interest

Orioles Jim

Recommended Posts

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Ubaldo Jimenez is drawing "moderate" interest on the trade market.

Jimenez held an ugly 4.81 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 125 1/3 innings in the first year of a four-year, $50 million contract with the Orioles, and it appears they might be ready to go ahead and move on from him. Baltimore will no doubt have to pick up a good chunk of Jimenez's deal in order to move him.

I'll link what I said back in August when there was talk of the Angels having interest in him:

And I'm hoping that Dan Duquette says "Yes" to Jerry Dipoto immediately upon answering the phone, before Dipoto even gets a chance to start speaking. :laughlol:

Insert whichever applicable GM out there has "moderate" interest in him. :laughlol:

I think he has a good year this year, but I would rather have consistency and keep Bud Norris.
Previous reports suggested the Orioles are trying to dump the remainder of Ubaldo Jimenez‘s four-year, $50 million contract, but not surprisingly there apparently hasn’t been much interest and now Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com writes that they “may consider moving” Bud Norris.

Would you do Ubaldo for Swisher? I probably would.

I'd rather see what Ubaldo brings next year if it's for Swisher.

x2.

While there's barely room for Ubaldo on the roster at the moment.......I seriously can't see any place to bat Swisher right now. Assuming Nick comes back which I'm fairly sure will happen.

I agree. Also, why trade Ubaldo when we'll have to eat a large portion of his salary? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I'd prefer to just keep him around.
If we trade him for Swisher or some other inflated contract we wouldn't be eating any of Ubaldo's contract.

Yeah but they wouldn't be eating any of Swisher's contract either. Ubaldo is owed slightly less money, is younger and is a better clubhouse guy. I agree, pass on Swisher.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Swisher known as a good clubhouse guy? We just don't like him because we had to face him and his smiling face for several years.

Ubaldo is owed slightly less money per year, but Swisher is only under contract for two years, whereas Ubaldo is under for three.

For the record, I am fine with keeping Ubaldo and hoping he turns thongs around.
