I like Delmon for 2 years as well.

Young, Lough, De Aza, Pearce looks like a pretty decent LF/RF/DH/Backup OF combination at bargain basement prices.

Two right handed, two left handed, none of them are extreme platoon hitters, but limiting exposure to certain pitchers will help them all.

Delmon is a known commodity, not yet 30, professional hitter, can be used effectively by Buck. Give him the second year!

The proper move is to stand firm and wait for Delmon to blink. What team is going to give him two years?

Probably true but that depends on his demands.

Waiting him out to save a trifle isn't worth the risk he gets his deal somewhere. Let's say a freak injury open up RF somewhere and they jump on the Delmon train.

If he I actually asking for 2 years $10 million and an option year, then yeah, wait him out. Nobody will bite on that lure.

No way the team gives him that. He was on the team last season and Buck barely played him. I mean even when Lough wasn't hitting his weight Delmond wasn't getting much playing time.

Give him the 2 years. That isn't an unreasonable contract demand. We can spend our Cruz/Markakis/Miller money here.

Why on earth would you give a 250-PA platoon DH a multi-year deal? If you're going to sign Delmon to more than one year it would have to be like 2/4. I think I'd be okay with 2/4. If Delmon is looking for 2/10 or 2/15 he's delusional. The ALDS double was awesome and all, but it ain't worth years and $millions.

Personally I'm projecting him to be more then a 250-PA platoon DH.

But your numbers look about right. Given his history, 2/4 with incentives and maybe an option year are the best he can hope for. In fact, I say get something like that done DD!

If he wants 2/10 he is totally delusional.
