And we all keep hoping the Yankees contracts catch up to them. Meanwhile they've had 22 straight winning seasons.

85 wins in 2013. 84 wins in 2014.

Yes, it doesn't kill them like it would a team that doesn't spend $200 million a year. But they are the New York Geriatrics. Their farm system sucks. And they have a lot of contracts on the books for players over 30.

Unlike the Braves fans and unlike they were about their new shortstop, I am certain the Yankees fans are happy with this.

Sure, it is a solid move for a team with their budget.

They get:

1- a very solid relief pitcher

2- the ability to keep Betances' arbitration compensation low by not employing him as the closer

3- a pick when Robertson signs elsewhere

A 12 year old could have made this move.

Actually, a lot of reports are saying the Yankees want to keep Robertson and have a 7-8-9 or Betances-Miller-Robertson.

I'd rather go 52-110 than 84-78. If you're going to miss the playoffs, why not be the worst team in the league and get the #1 overall pick?

To some, just finishing at or a little above .500 is good enough, as long as the budget is low and they get "value" at every position.
