Marlon Byrd??

So we passed on Cruz but will trade for an old Byrd and essentially a 3 year deal :(

You're not actually saying they Orioles are entertaining this idea? You're saying the media is silly for suggesting this, right?

And in the comments section' date=' they have us sending them Harvey and Ubaldo, for Ryan Howard and Byrd + 10 or 15m.[/quote']

Harvey is the only guy in the deal with any positive value, and quite a bit at that.

Howard is owed a minimum of $60M (25, 25 and a 10M buyout), and is projected for 0 value, maybe even negative. So minus-$60M. Ubaldo is probably worth a couple wins ($12M) and is owed $37.5M, for a net value of maybe -$25M. Byrd is probably about even, maybe (if you squint) worth about what he's being paid if he doesn't remember he's 38.

So... this is asking the Orioles to donate $35M and Harvey to the Phillies.

Well, there's another plausible RF option gone. Champagne corks are popping in the Lough household.

Who in the O's organization would be equivalent to Ben Lively? Seems like he's somewhere between Mike Wright and Hunter Harvey at first glance.

Yeah, there isn't a good comp for us since theres a big drop off after Bundy/Gausman/Harvey. He's better regarded than a Wright, but not as well regarded as our top guys. #3-4 starter is his projection.

Who in the O's organization would be equivalent to Ben Lively? Seems like he's somewhere between Mike Wright and Hunter Harvey at first glance.

Reds drafted Lively in the 4th round of the 2013 draft, and he signed quickly to a bonus of $350K. The organization sent him to their Pioneer League affiliate, and was kept on limits throughout his professional debut. He made 12 starts at Missoula, throwing a total of 37 innings with 49 strikeouts and just 21 hits allowed. He went up to full-season Low-A for his last start of the year, a 7 strikeout, four inning outing. We ranked Lively as the #9 fantasy prospect in the Reds' organization after the season.

Lively was moved up to High-A Bakersfield this year, and has been lights out so far. In 74 innings pitched (12 starts), Lively has 86 strikeouts, 13 walks, and just 50 hits allowed in the high offense environs of the California League.

Zach Davies? Brandon Kline?

A team who appears to be rebuilding trades a decent prospect for a 38 year old? I don't get it. They hoping he's solid and they can flip him for more at the deadline?

A name that the fan base will know so that they can make a case for not really rebuilding to them? You know, like when we got Jay Payton?
