So, at it's most benign, this is a list of candidates discussed by the Jays for their presidency, and none or their respective teams has even been approached yet.

This is a completely correct statement. Everyone read what he said and ask him to explain if you don't understand something here.

Maybe DD was daydreaming about the Toronto job when he forgot to give Nick Markakis a Q.O.

I think everyone is about to realize how special the past 3 years have been

I was hoping that DD would bring in a Kemp or a Justin Upton and try to make one more run at the playoffs in 2015.

However in 2016 we are going to lose a boatload of free agents and like it or not be in a major re-building phase.

Not sure DD wants to be involved with that

Not sure he is well suited for that.

Congrats to DD if rumor is true and he has an opportunity to take care of his family to use the language that players use as they sell their services to the highest bidder.

The Orioles were in a mess when he got here. They were in a constant rebuild. He knew what he was getting into. The O's took care of his family by giving him a chance no one else would.

Speculation time:

If Duquette leaves for the Jays, who would you want the O's to hire?

I would go after Alex Anthopoulos. Don't you guys think he would be upset with the Jays giving Duquette more control than him?

I've been impressed by Anthopolous' offseason thus far and I think his aggressive style is something that the Orioles would benefit from. If Duquette can leave the Orioles for more control, why not try to hire away Anthopoulos with a similar offer?

DD is way way to smart for that

Look DD has NOTHING to lose by saying ...yea sure maybe I would have an interest and seeing were the road leads to.

Its a grand chess master move by a grand chess master. The O's can either pony up some money, a shiny new title and some increased autonomy or he has someone who will...its frankly a brilliant brilliant plan. Its one I also think DD is smart enough to think of, he did not get where he is by being without know how to play the game and how to use everything he can to get what he wants.

It would only make me love DD more if true

So DD has nothing to lose by demonstrating to the entire (tiny and insular) industry that he's the sort of executive who is not above gaming his employer for personal gain? You see no potential ramifications from this sort of behavior? Unfortunately, at least in my life experience, there's this archaic concept called good faith that has the inconvenient habit of getting in the way of some of the slicker chess moves.

There's an established protocol for this situation that so far doesn't seem to be in process.

Duquette would fire Anthopolous and LaCava. Why do you think this got leaked. They are scrambling to save their slots.

He is not the one initiating this, he has plausible deniability.

If you think these type of games are not played all the time in business and particularly in MLB then your just not paying attention. Does anyone really believe that the Cubs and Maddon did not have backdoor conversations?

I don't think that anyone in the industry would blink an eye at such gamesmanship, its a dog eat dog industry. I have no doubt that DD has had NO official contact with the Jays. I have no doubt though in unofficial ways DD has said sure...if its a promotion, big raise and more autonomy I'd be interested. He would be stupid to not be. These things happen all the time, nobody cares except the team that loses a guy. Ask the Rays. These are high powered business men who make a living trying to get over on one another. Thinking DD is some ethical behemoth who sprinkles flowers and fairy dust around the warehouse is just not realistic. I think he loves working for the Orioles but could learn to love working for the Jays if its to his personal benefit.

Wish someone from the Orioles would come out and say the same thing.
