Dan loves being executive of the year and being one of 30 once again after missing it badly for ten years.

And happy or unhappy wants to continue doing it once his Orioles contract is up. "Fine" as in doing his damnedest to win us a Championship.

He has NO other option.

It doesn't take any special insight to know that Dan Duquette would have liked to both interview and get the job of Toronto CEO. That doesn't mean he'll be unhappy being GM of the Orioles. What it means is that if he is GM of the O's it's not the way he wanted this to work out. That's pretty simple. We wouldn't be talking about this for a month if he just wanted to stay GM of the O's.

Weams originally said that the way things turned out (Duquette back to the O's) means everyone got what they wanted except Ed Rogers. For some reason, he can't bring himself to admit the obvious, that Dan Duquette did not get what he wanted. He still can't. Very strange. Very obvious.

Why is it important to you that he admit that?

The short version of it: Laurence has little use for Rogers, the man not the company, and has removed him from most positions of high-end responsibility with the major communications giant.

So where is the Brit, Guy Laurence now, as Rogers clumsily trips over himself — along with other co-conspirators — on his way to replacing Laurence’s buddy, Paul Beeston?

And why hasn’t Laurence intervened in this mess, the way he has with other Edward Rogers’ responsibilities?

The company may own the Blue Jays, but owning a sporting franchise is always more of a public trust. It may, in some cases, be open to the whim of an erratic owner. We’ve certainly been witness to that in Toronto. But trust between the public and the ball club, more than anything, must always be maintained.

Inappropriate as in it would have incriminated them in a tampering investigation. :P

All this talk about how Dan should have made a statement, Toronto could have done this and put it to rest. They didn't because they were open to a change, which is why Beeston was without a contract since October.

Here's the take on "rumours flying about" from the Toronto Sun:

"Rumours?

Is it a rumour when Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of the White Sox, says on Dec. 8 and again last week, he received a call from Ed Rogers asking to interview Williams? That?s not gossip you hear in the lobby at the winter meetings.

When Reinsdorf tells Williams and Williams reacts as if the call from Toronto is old news ? since he had been contacted by a ?Rogers emissary? according to Reinsdorf ? it?s not a rumour.

If they were rumours why not squash them like a start-up wireless company?

The other words about Beeston being a proud Canadian were accurate.

Yet, we were looking for something like: ?I can?t tell the difference between Jeff Hoffman or Abbie Hoffman, but you can?t have either,? ending talks with the Orioles.

Will there be a story out of Baltimore on Tuesday on Duquette?s future with the Jays?

No.

Likely just the fact that owner Peter Angelos will file tampering charges."

Connecting The O's off season with the TOR BS is moronic. There are solid reasons for the O's off season that have nothing to do with TOR. IMO the only thing Dan might have done wrong in this situation, is when approached by TOR, most likely indirectly, He said he would be interested in the job, rather than saying they would have to talk to PA before talking to him. Understandable, but most likely the source of all that ensued. I have no issue with PA asking the moon and stars, and I hope he pursues tampering, because this sort of thing can't just be allowed to stand.
